EL TEMPORAL

Problem

The hydrological system of the municipality of Puebla has been severely altered by the invasion and deforestation of water bodies and tributaries, resulting in flooding and the loss of environmental services that directly affect the population.

Solution

The project focuses on a system of bridges and regenerative parks along the San Francisco River canyons in Puebla, Mexico. Through its design, the goal is to physically manifest to the inhabitants that there are boundaries that should not be invaded or interfered with for their own safety. In this way, a preventive action will be generated that promotes respect for these spaces and allows the creation of environmental services that the population can enjoy.

The main solution strategies are six:

  • Green infrastructure: a bike path that marks the federal zone and the children’s area.

  • Soil retention.

  • Water management: sanitation and infiltration into the aquifer.

  • Reforestation: gallery forest and wetland.

  • Social plan.

  • Solid waste control.

By applying these strategies and their design, the project will directly impact better urban development, flood prevention, economic development, environmental improvement, pollution reduction, and better social organization.

The water system, since the foundation of Puebla, has been a fundamental part of its history and identity, and we are still in time to regenerate it gradually.

This project has not been implemented yet, but we are confident that, with conviction and commitment, society and the government will carry it out soon.
