BIKE PARK

Problem

Creating a bike ramp park on a vacant lot with limited water access, excessive dust, little vegetation, flooding, and much exposure to direct sunlight

Solution

We improved the soil and created biodiversity islands, planting trees and vegetation in the areas with the most shade to minimize watering. We encouraged the natural growth of fauna and flora in unused areas. Medium and small trees were incorporated to generate high shade, and low-shade plants were added to help retain soil moisture and promote infiltration into the underground. Additionally, we placed surface stones to favor infiltration into the aquifer. Two years later, the park hosts a wide variety of birds, reptiles, butterflies, bees, grasshoppers, and native flora, creating a habitat for numerous species.

The challenge continues: to expand the shaded areas and create an aesthetically pleasing space, especially during dry seasons, as people may think the park is not maintained when the plants mature and the seeds are left to grow, giving the impression of a neglected and barren space.
